The AMBER Alert™ Program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the wireless industry, to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the entire community to assist in the search for and the safe recovery of the child.

The Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) Program provides training for students interested in careers in public safety. The four-year program, developed jointly by Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the Chicago Police Department (CPD), and the Chicago Fire Department (CFD), recruits and trains up to 250 public and non-public high school students each year. One of the immediate goals of the program is to recruit a more diverse pool of qualified applicants.
